SMART Brings Touch-sensitive Interactivity to Large-area LCD Panels
SMART Board™ for Flat-Panel Displays interactive overlays now available
Calgary, AB – October 6, 2003 – SMART Technologies Inc. announces two new 40” SMART Board for Flat-Panel Displays interactive overlays, the PN340 and PC340. This marks the first time that the touch-sensitive, intuitive functionality of the SMART Board product family is available for large-area LCD panels. The PN340 and PC340 support the NEC-Mitsubishi LCD4000 and Clarity Bobcat II LCD panels, respectively. Featuring award-winning DViT™ (Digital Vision Touch) technology, invented by SMART, the PN340 and PC340 provide superior image quality, precise touch control and durability.
Flat-panel displays are increasingly being used in corporate boardrooms, briefing rooms, training centers and classrooms, and in digital signage applications such as point-of-information kiosks. SMART Board interactive overlays enable military personnel to outline tactical plans and demonstrate simulated maneuvers, educators to engage students' interest and increase lesson retention, legal professionals to present persuasive evidence in the courtroom, and shoppers to browse product information in retail stores, to name a few applications.

The interactive overlays are powered by SMART Board™ software, which adds touch control and annotation capabilities, transforming plasma display and LCD panels into powerful presentation and collaboration tools. By simply pressing the overlay’s touch-sensitive surface, users can access and control computer-based information using their finger as a mouse. Users can also write notes over top of any application in electronic ink and edit, save and print those notes for future reference.
